First Thanksgiving..and lots to be thankful for..

Dasha sat on Thanksgiving Day and looked at all the food..not sure what to eat and what not to eat. I put just a little bit of everything on her plate to try. She did try everything and we were very proud of her for doing so. She loved the turkey and the ham..she was not too sure of all the vegetables.
Today we went shopping up to Lancaster and Dasha loves the horse and buggy's that she sees there. She loves all the shops and she now knows what Mom likes to buy and she will show her all of the country decorations and tell her that it would look nice in our home.
The other day Dasha made Mom a beautiful picture from school, but that was not the best part. On the back side she wrote in her own writing, in English, the most thoughtful words to her mother. She told her how she was sorry for the last sixth months and her being ungrateful. She thanked her for the many things that we have given her..her bedroom furniture, her clothes and many other things. She said that she was sorry for not treating Dad with respect and not treating Amber with respect. She said that she will try real hard to do better and that she loves her very much. She said that she is going to try to listen to us more. It brought tears to Donna's eyes and she hugged her and thanked her for the most beautiful gift from her.
The writing was so misspelled, but it did not matter!! She will see someday after reading that how far she will come with her reading and writing in English. We were just proud of her for trying and what she said meant so much to us.
It has not been a easy seven months. There has been many nights crying. When you see the progress that she has made in these areas, it is all worth it.
She finally feels loved and safe and that is what we wanted for her.
We can't wait to share our first Christmas with her.
Thank you for all of your continued prayers for our family.
