Today we're taking Amber and Dasha bowling with a few friends. Dasha and Amber have their good days and bad but the bad days seem to be less and less. She's starting to say sorry more and is getting the point that we're in charge and not her. It's now a running joke when she says "or what." I just look at her and she goes and does what we've asked her to do. She likes to help around the house but stresses us all out when we go anywhere. The kid wants everything insight.
School schedules came out and we have no idea how she is going to survive in 6th grade. We're making an appt with the school counselor next week to talk to them about it because she is taking the same classes as Amber (not in the same class). There is no way she will be able to keep up. He math skills are still at a 1st or 2nd grade level and her reading skills are getting better. Her comprehension and ability to speak English are pretty darn good for a kid that has only been here 4 months. If you've got advice, we're listening!
